Santa Fe High School "Raider Regiment"
Band Program Has a History-Making School Year

The Santa Fe High School "Raider Regiment" Band program, under the direction of Band Director, Kathy LaVay, has had a history-making school year during 2005-2006.  As this school year comes to a close, the Santa Fe High School "Regiment" earned the prestigious "Otto J. Kraushaar Award" given by the Florida Bandmasters Association for the third year in a row for receiving straight superior ratings at all music performance assessments for Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band & Colorguard activities.  They also received Best in High School, the Kingdom of the Sun Marching Band Invitational hosted by North Marion High School and the Azalea Marching Festival hosted by Palatka High School.  The band also made history by being the only high school band in the state of Florida to win a sixth state Marching Band Championship at the Florida Marching Band Coalition State Finals Tournament held in the Tropicana Dome in St. Petersburg earlier in the year.  In addition to this accomplishments, the "Raider Regiment" was invited, along with the Gainesville High School Band, to be the feature lead band in the 6 ABC/Boscov's Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day parade where they were featured on national television where TV Star Tony Danza marched along with the band and made comments such as "This band is so great they should play at the super Bowl!"
