All students can learn music!  Research has shown that students who are actively involved in music, whether it is in band, general music, choral or orchestral do much better on standardized tests that students who are not involved in these areas.  This research ties the learning of note reading into this success, because the student is learning a new language.

At Kimball Wiles Elementary each student is expected to attend class, participate in class activities and show respect to peers and the teacher.  Progress Reports are sent home to students who for whatever reason are checked out early on a regular basis, do not participate in class activities and who do not complete assignments.  Students who are continually disruptive after their parents have been contacted will be referred to the Behavioral Resource Teacher for further action.

Students are graded weekly and their grades are reported every nine weeks per the policy of the School Board of Alachua County.
