Panther Clubs

The clubs at Newberry High School promote active leadership, success, and achievement.  Our clubs are made up of Panthers in grades 9-12. Skills promoted by the clubs at Newberry High provide students with the common information they need to succeed in the adult lives. Each club is sponsored by one or more advisors who are dedicated to see students do something positive with their lives.

Students must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA to participate in any extra curricula activities.  Any student that belongs to a club and has a GPA of a 2.39 or below must go to tutoring once a week for at least thirty minutes in order to participate in any of the clubs activities.

There will be a club sign-up time during the first month of school. This takes place during lunch and each student may sign up for the clubs they are most interested in.

EXPLORERS is a club for students that are interested in a career in Criminal Justice.  The student must be enrolled in the Criminal Justice Magnet program to belong to this organization.

ENVIRONMENTAL club’s main purpose is to conduct several projects such as recycling paper, plastic, aluminum cans, and glass. The students in environmental club are dedicated to preserving our environment.

FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) members promote fellowship and sportsmanship on campus. It meets weekly with a motivational speaker.

F.B.L.A. (Future Business Leaders of America) is a co-curricular organization dedicated to preparing women and men for the work place. There are field trips to district and state meetings. The members also work on service projects for community service.

FCCLA (Family, Career & Community Leaders of America) club is an integral part of the Child Care program. All students in the class also belong to the club.

FFA (Future Farmers of America) FFA members learn about the agricultural field. This club provides hands-on experience of cultivating, working with animals, and using various machines in agriculture technology. To become a member of FFA one must be enrolled in or have taken an Agriculture class.

HIGH SCHOOL HIGH TECH is an enrichment program for students to explore post secondary education options and careers in high tech fields. A student must have a physical sensory or learning disability, maintain a 2.0 GPA and be on a regular diploma track in order to participate in this program.

INTERACT is a community service club sponsored by the Sunrise Rotary club in Gainesville. This club is open to 9th-12th grade students that are interested in giving back to the community. The motto for Rotary and Interact is “Service above self”.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY is a club whose purpose is to promote strong qualities of scholarship, leadership, service, and character among its members. To be inducted into the N.H.S. students must have at least a 3.5 GPA. Maintaining this GPA and earning service points is necessary to remain in the Society.

PRE-COLLEGIATE is an organization for minority students planning to attend college. The students participate in a leadership conference and visit colleges. The students must have a 3.0 GPA to be invited to belong.

SPANISH is an organization for students enrolled in Spanish. They learn about the culture and activities of the Spanish speaking countries.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT is an organization comprised of class officers and Student Government officers. The members work on activities that will benefit the students at the school. They are in charge of the homecoming activities and are leaders in the school.

THESPIAN TROUP is a group of students who are interested in expressing themselves through acting, singing, dancing, as well as stage production.
