Art 2D Comp. I
This is the beginning level entry course for our visual arts program.
It is designed to introduce students to an enjoyable and successful
experience in the artistic expression of ideas with sketching, drawing,
designing and painting with a variety of media.
Art 2D Comp. II
This course is designed to follow Art 2D Comp. I, with an emphasis on
introducing more new media and tools with drawing, painting, collage
and mixed media.
Drawing & Painting I
This is an intermediate level art course that is designed to give
students studio practice that will provide opportunities for personal
expression and creative problem solving through various drawing and
painting practices.
Drawing & Painting II
This advanced level art course is designed for studio practice with an
in-depth study in ideas & concepts, composition and critique
with more complex art assignments focusing on advanced drawing and
painting practices.
Portfolio I
The purpose of this advanced level course is to introduce students to
the development of a portfolio, reflecting a diverse range of the
students' own works of art. Experiences are provided to encourage the
students to work in a series to study personal interests in concepts,
composition and media exploration.
Portfolio II
This advanced lever art course is designed to follow Portfolio I, with
a continuation of enhancing the student's development, enrichment and
culmination of a diverse and fully completed art portfolio ready for
presentation.
Personal Fitness
The purpose of this course is to provide students with opportunities to
develop an individual optimal level of physical fitness, acquire
knowledge of physical fitness concepts, and acquire knowledge of the
significance of lifestyle on one's health and fitness. The content
includes knowledge of the importance of physical fitness, assessment of
the health related components of physical fitness, knowledge of health
problems associated with inadequate fitness levels, knowledge and
application of biomechanical and physiological principles to improve
and maintain the health related components of physical fitness,
knowledge of safety practices associated with physical fitness,
knowledge of psychological values of physical fitness including stress
management, knowledge of sound nutritional practices related to
physical fitness, and knowledge of consumer issues related to physical
fitness.

Fitness Lifestyle Design
The purpose of this course is to provide students with opportunities to
extend the acquisition of knowledge of physical fitness concepts
included in personal fitness, acquire knowledge of designing,
implementing, and evaluating a personal fitness program, and develop an
individual optimal level of physical fitness. The content includes
assessment of the health related components of physical fitness,
further development of knowledge and application of physical fitness
concepts, knowledge of safety practices, and knowledge of consumer
issues related to personal fitness programs
Health For Expecting Parents (HEP)/Parenting
You are in a health class that has been designed especially for
pregnant teenagers. During this semester I will teach you how to stay
healthy during your prenatal (before birth) and postpartum (after
birth) periods. You will also learn about child development and ways to
help your baby be happy, healthy and smart!
Health I & II: Life Management Skills (LMS) &
Personal Health
The purpose of this course is to provide students with opportunities to
develop and enhance critical life management skills necessary to make
sound decisions and take positive actions for healthy and effective
living. Specific content includes: emotional development; communication
skills; interpersonal and coping skills, responsible planning and
decision-making; nutrition and weight management skills; substance use
and misuse, including the hazards of smocking; knowledge and skills
needed to be a wise consumer; community resources; personal money
management; first aid and planning for wellness
Spanish I
Spanish I introduces students to the Spanish language and culture and
develops communication skills and cross-cultural understanding.
Specific content includes skills in listening and speaking, with
special attention to pronunciation. An introduction to reading and
writing is included as well as the fundamentals of grammar and culture.

Spanish II
Spanish II reinforces fundamental skills acquired by students in
Spanish I. The course develops increased listening, speaking, reading
and writing skills, as well as cultural awareness. Reading and writing
receive emphasis while oral communication remains the primary
objective. This course continues the cultural survey of
Spanish-speaking people.
