Academy of Early Childhood Education
The Academy of Early Childhood Education is a four-year sequence of courses designed to prepare students for post-secondary education and a career in the field of early childhood development. The Academy of Early Childhood Education has partnered with Santa Fe Community College and the Early Learning Coalition of Alachua County to promote advanced educational opportunities for students in Alachua County.
Curriculum
In the time that students are in the program, they benefit with:
- School-To-Career Education
- 4 Certifications totaling 45 hours of training from the Department of Children and Families
- Child Development Associate Equivalency (CDAE) Certification
- Advanced College Credit
- CPR Training
- Students can qualify for Gold Seal/Bright Futures Scholarship by meeting state criteria
Requirements For Admission
You should apply to the Academy of Early Childhood Education in your eighth or ninth grade year. The following documents are required in order to complete the application process:
- A completed application signed by parents or guardians
- Three letters of recommendation from your teachers
- A copy of your transcript
- A 2.5 GPA
- Excellent record of attendance and punctuality
- No serious behavior incidents
Upon Acceptance you will be expected to maintain a level of excellence and:
- Make a commitment to complete the program and to fulfill the internship requirements
- Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher
- Have an excellent record of attendance, punctuality, and behavioral conduct
- Demonstrate a positive attitude
