Transportation Applications
Systems:
- Bus Routing
- EDULOG
- This system from Education Logistics automates many functions previously
performed by
the routing coordinators. Student data is downloaded via FTP from the
mainframe Student Database to the EDULOG
server and processed to update the EDULOG student file. Addresses are
matched and students are placed on routes. A valuable feature is the ability
to plot from the EDULOG graphic map of the district.
Each day files are sent via FTP from the EDULOG system to an in-house system
that creates web pages for all school routes on the
Transportation Department web page.
- CICS Mainframe
- Each day the same data that is used to create the web information is used
to create files for in-house CICS applications that provides secure routing
information to district offices. This allows schools to view detailed route
information showing stops, stop times and students at each stop. The
transportation department has the capability via the CICS applications for
online printing of selected routes and trips, and various inquiry screens.
- Payroll - This system provides a method for interfacing pay
transactions to the district payroll system. These transactions are created
in a common file from all of the following applicable sub-systems.
- Field Trips - The district provides many field trips for students.
This system provides scheduling and billing functions for the requesting
and billing centers and produces transactions for driver pay.
- Substitute Driver System This system provides a method of
tracking substitute driver assignments and pay when the regular driver
cannot make a run.
- Driver Training System - This system provides a method of tracking
driver training history and provides a method for their payment.
- Driver Accident History - This system provides a method of
tracking driver accident history for reporting to DOE.
- Automated Fuel Accounting - Fuel for busses and district vehicles
is dispensed
at four sites. The fueling function is computer controlled.
Transactions are captured and uploaded to the mainframe via FTP for
updating inventory and accounting files.
- Inventory - Vehicle repair parts and fuel are tracked for
charging to cost centers.
- Vehicle File Maintenance - Vehicle information is maintained
using this system.
- Repair History - Vehicles are scheduled for periodic
maintenance using this system. Repairs and service records are maintained
on all vehicles.
