SBAC e-mail using Netscape

Netscape can be used very well to access your SBAC e-mail.  These instructions are for version 4.7, other versions may differ in the windows and menus presented, but you may be able to use the general concepts to adapt to other versions. The following instructions may be used to set up profiles for one or more e-mail accounts.

1. Click on Start
        Programs
            Netscape Communicator
                Utilities
                    User Profile Manager

2. This brings up the Profile Manager window. Click on New.

3. This brings up the Creating a New Profile window. Click Next.

4. In the New Profile Window, type in your name and email address in the area provided.

    Click Next

5. In the next window, type in a name for your profile and leave the default for the directory.
    Click Next

6. In the Outgoing Mail Server, type in mail.sbac.edu as the Outgoing Mail Server.
    Click Next

7.  In the Incoming Mail Server window, type in your SBAC email username in the username box and
     mail.sbac.edu in the Incoming Mail Server box and choose IMAP for the Mail Server type.

    Click Next

8. The Newsgroups Server window comes up next. Type in news.sbac.edu.
    Click Finish.

9. The Netscape Navigator browser window will come up. Click on Edit, then Preferences.
    This will bring up the Preferences window. Click on the plus (+) next to Mail & Newsgroups.

10. Click on the Mail Servers category.
   - Click the Edit button.  You should see mail.sbac.edu (Default) in the window.
   - Be sure IMAP server is selected and that the userid is in the User Name window.

     - Click the IMAP tab in the Mail Server Properties window.

   - Under "When I delete a message," Select the Remove it immediately button and
            the Clean up ("Expunge") Inbox on exit and Empty Trash on exit boxesClick OK.

   - Under IMAP server directory, type in mail/.
   - Be sure that there is no check mark in Show only subscribed folders.
   - Place a check mark in Server supports folders that contain subfolders and messages.

11. Click on the  Messages category.
        - Click on the down arrow next to "By default forward messages As Attachment. Choose Quoted.
           Deselect Automatically quote the original message to turn this feature off. Click OK.

12. Click OK to close the Preferences window.

You are now ready to read your mail! Click on Communicator, then Messenger. You will be asked about subscribing to folders, click OK. You should then be prompted to put in your password. This is your SBAC Pinemail password.
