Assistive Technology

Assistive technology includes devices used by individuals with disabilities to increase, maintain or improve functioning, as well as the services needed to select and use these devices. IDEA 97 requires that the IEP team consider the use of assistive technology devices and services in the development of the student's IEP. These devices and services may provide wider access to the full range of programs and services.
