GETTING HIGH SCHOOL COURSE CREDIT ONLINE
NOTE: You must enroll for high school courses online with your guidance counselor.
Prior approval from your guidance counselor is REQUIRED.
The Florida Virtual School (Online): High school students in Alachua County can
enroll in a variety of high school courses that they can complete online through the
Florida Virtual School (formerly Florida High School Online) program. Students who are
interested in enrolling in one of the high school courses offered through this program
must obtain prior approval from their guidance counselor.

University of Florida High School Correspondence Courses: Students in Alachua
County can earn up to one credit through the University of Florida Continuing Education
Program. High school students must receive approval from their guidance counselor prior to
enrolling in a high school correspondence course through the University of Florida.

TEST INFORMATION & PREPARATION FOR A STANDARD HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA
Meeting the Testing Requirement for a Standard High School Diploma:
Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT): High school students must now pass the
FCAT Reading and Mathematics tests in order to receive a Standard High School Diploma.

FCAT
Explorer is a practice and skills reinforcement tool based on Floridas Sunshine
State Standards. Students, parents & teachers can use the FCAT Explorer free of
charge. To log on students and parents need to type their last name and the first
letter of their first name in the space designated "Sign in Name," and the first
three letters of your last name, your two digit birth month and two digit birthday in the

responsible for the administration of required testing programs, such as the Florida
