Littlewood Elementary School

Fifth Grade

fifth
Fifth graders are role models at Littlewood Elementary School. Not only are they the oldest students, but they hold many positions of responsibility. They are an integral part of the overall school administration. The fifth grade's unique team approach to academics facilitates social and emotional growth to meet the individual needs of the students.

Block scheduling enables teachers to specialize in their areas of expertise. It also provides the opportunity for individualized scheduling to meet the needs of each student. Another benefit of block scheduling is the distribution of students to create a low pupil/teacher ratio in math, science, and social studies.

Every morning at Littlewood begins with a student produced news program called, "Good Morning, Littlewood." Fifth graders write, anchor, film, and direct this daily award-winning program. In addition, fifth grade Safety Patrols are responsible for ensuring that all Littlewood activities are carried out successfully.

Some activities that make the fifth grade year at Littlewood memorable are the Safety Patrol trip to Washington, D.C., the 3-day, 2-night Camp Crystal adventure, Veteran's Day Program, their end of the year graduation ceremony, and their swim/picnic celebration. Overall, fifth grade is a year to remember!
